Esperanto Plugin for Gaim

Here you will find a plugin which allows you to type Esperanto characters in Gaim using the x-system or by another chosen letter. It also lets you translate incoming messages so that you will never have to see x's in Gaim again!

NEW! Updated to work with the new-style plugins. Tested on Gaim 1.2.1.

Installation

To install the plugin, you first have to have the source code for Gaim. You don't have to install Gaim with the source code, but you need it to compile the plugin.

1. Download the source code to Gaim here.
2. Extract the source code with: tar -jvxf gaim-1.2.1.tar.bz2
3. Download the plugin and save it to the directory gaim-1.2.1/plugins.
4. Run the configure script for Gaim with:

   cd gaim-1.2.1
   ./configure
   

5. Compile the plugin with:

   cd plugins
   make esperanto.so
   

6. Finally, copy the plugin to a place where Gaim will find it with:

   cp esperanto.so ~/.gaim/plugins
